KTV pricing in Ho Chi Minh City, explained

Room, drinks, lady drinks — with worked examples and per-person rates.

What you are actually paying for

A KTV bill in District 1 has three parts, and almost every misunderstanding comes from not knowing which part is which. There is the room, there are your own drinks, and there are lady drinks — the drink a hostess has while she sits with you. That is the whole shape of it. Anyone quoting you a single number without saying which of the three it covers is either simplifying or guessing.

At Barbie Bar the rate card is published, so you can do the arithmetic before you arrive rather than after. The important detail, and the one most often got wrong: room and package prices are per person, not per room. A price that looks like a group rate almost never is.

The room, or a package

You can take a room on its own. A VIP room with nothing else attached is 500,000 VND per person for an hour — no drinks, no hostess, just the room and the karaoke system. That is the option for a group that wants a private space to sing and will order drinks separately.

Most people take a package instead, because it folds the room, a hostess and soju, beer and soft drinks into one number:

  • Package 1 — 1,500,000 VND per person, one hour, with one hostess and soju, beer and soft drinks included per customer.
  • Package 2 — 2,000,000 VND per person, two hours, same inclusions.
  • Package 3 — 3,200,000 VND per person, three hours, same inclusions.

Read those as per-person figures and the maths behaves. Two people on Package 2 is 4,000,000 VND, not 2,000,000. Four people on Package 3 is 12,800,000 VND. This is the single most common source of a surprise at the end of the night, and it is entirely avoidable.

Food and extras

Food is charged per item, not per person. A small fruit platter is 290,000 VND, a large one 500,000 VND, and a snack is 180,000 VND. A platter is shared, so one is usually enough for a table of two to four.

Worked examples

Two people, one hour, room only, no hostess: 2 x 500,000 = 1,000,000 VND.

Two people, two hours, with a hostess, on Package 2: 2 x 2,000,000 = 4,000,000 VND. Add a small fruit platter and it is 4,290,000 VND.

Four people, three hours, with hostesses, on Package 3: 4 x 3,200,000 = 12,800,000 VND. Add a large platter and it is 13,300,000 VND.

What is not in those numbers

VAT, service charge and card fees sit on top. If you pay cash in VND or USD you avoid the card fee; if you pay by card or bank transfer, VAT and the card fee apply. Bottle prices, where they apply, are per bottle. Prices move with season and exchange rate, so treat any figure you read online — including this page — as indicative and confirm the current rate when you book.

Why published prices matter

A published rate card is a commitment. It means the number you were quoted on WhatsApp is the number on the card, and the card is the same one everyone else is reading. Venues that will not quote before you sit down are not necessarily dishonest, but they are asking you to accept a price you cannot check, in a room you have already walked into. That is a worse negotiating position than you need to be in.

If a price on this site is ever unclear, ask before you book. Enquire on WhatsApp; the house confirms holds. A question answered over WhatsApp costs nothing; a misunderstanding discovered at 1am costs the evening.
